ဆရာဒေါက်တာစိုးသန်း၏ 11 August မှ 18 August တွင်းရေးခဲ့သော writing လေ့ကျင့်လိုသူများအတွက် နမူနာအခြေခံဝါကျများစုစည်းမှု

Writing လေ့ကျင့်ချင်သူတွေအတွက် အခြေခံအဆင့် ဝါကျလေးတွေ ဒီတစ်ပတ်အတွင်းရေးပေးခဲ့တာ ပြန်စုပြီးတင်ပေးလိုက်ပါတယ်။ လွတ်သွားတဲ့သူတွေ လေ့ကျင့်လို့ရအောင်ပါ။

၁။ ဒီလိုမျိုးလုပ်ဖို့ ငါ့မှာ လုပ်ပိုင်ခွင့် အာဏာမရှိပါဘူး။

I do not have the power/authority to do such a thing.

၂။ သူဟာ သမ္မတကြီးနဲ့ အရမ်းရင်းနှီးတယ်။

He has a very close relationship with the President.

OR

He is very close to the President.

၃။ အဲဒါ ဘယ်လို ဖြစ်သွားခဲ့တာလဲ။

How did that happen?

၄။ သူဟာ လိမ်လည်မှု အတွက် စွပ်စွဲခံရတယ်။

He was accused of swindling.

be accused of something= တစ်ခုခုအတွက်စွပ်စွဲခံရတာ၊ passive voice သုံးထားတာ သတိပြုပါ။

to accuse someone of something = ဒါကတော့ active voice ပုံစံ

swindle (verb)= လိမ်လည်သည် (များသောအားဖြင့် ငွေ၊ ရံပုံငွေတွေကို အလွဲသုံးစားလုပ်တာမျိုး)

swindler (noun)= လိမ်လည်သူ၊ အလွဲသုံးစားလုပ်သူ

၅။ သူဟာ လိမ်လည် အလွဲသုံးစားမှု အတွက် အပြစ်ရှိကြောင်း တွေ့ရှိရတယ်။

He was found guilty of swindling.

to be found guilty of something ဆိုပြီး passive voice နဲ့ သုံးပုံကို အတွဲလိုက်မှတ်ပါ။

He was guilty of swindling. လို့ ရိုးရိုး statement လိုပြောလည်း ရပါတယ်။

၆။ မိုး မရပ်မနားရွာချတော့ ရန်ကုန်မြို့ ဒေသတော်တော်များများ ရေကြီးကုန်တယ်။

Parts of Yangon were flooded after incessant rainfall.

OR

Parts of Yangon were flooded due to a steady downpour of rain.

၇။ သူ့မှာ စာသင်ကြားမှု အတွေ့အကြုံ နည်းနည်းလေးပဲရှိတယ်။

He has very little teaching experience.

၈။ သူဟာ ဘယ်သူ့ကိုမှ နားမထောင်ဘူး။ သူ့စိတ်ထဲရှိတဲ့အတိုင်း လုပ်တယ်။

He does not listen to anyone. He follows his own instinct.

instinct= ဗီဇ၊ ပင်ကိုအသိစိတ်

to follow one's own instinct ဆိုတာကို အတွဲလိုက်မှတ်ပါ

၉။ သူဟာ စိတ်ဖိစီးမှုကို မခံနိုင်လို့ အလုပ်ထွက်လိုက်တယ်။

He quit the job as he could not cope with the stress.

quit the job= အလုပ်ထွက်သည်

quit school= ကျောင်းထွက်သည်

leave the job လည်း အလုပ်ထွက်တာပဲ။

to cope with something difficult/challenging လို့ အတွဲလိုက်မှတ်ပါ။

He can't cope with his studies.

သူ စာမလိုက်နိုင်ဘူး။

He can't cope with the demands of his boss.

သူ့ သူဌေး မတရားခိုင်းတာတွေ သူမလုပ်နိုင်ဘူး။

I can't cope with two jobs at the same time.

ငါ အလုပ်နှစ်ခု တပြိုင်နက် မလုပ်နိုင်ဘူး။

၁၀။ သူ့မိဘတွေ လက်မထပ်ထားဘဲ သူ့ကိုမွေးလာတာလို့ ကောလာဟလတွေပြောကြတယ်။

Rumors have it that he was born out of wedlock.

ဟုတ်မဟုတ်မသိ ပြောကြတာပဲ...ကို ဝါကျအစမှာ Rumors have it that...လို့သုံးပုံကိုမှတ်ပါ။

Rumors have it that she is having an affair with her boss.

သူ့သူဌေးနဲ့ သူနဲ့ ဖြစ်နေကြတယ်လို့ ပြောနေကြတယ်။

out of wedlock= not legally married တရားဝင်လက်မထပ်ထားဘဲဖြစ်သော

in wedlock= legally married တရားဝင်လက်ထပ်ထားပြီး၍ဖြစ်သော

၁၁။ တခါတလေ မင်း ကိုယ့်ကိုယ်ကို မှန်ထဲကြည့်ပြီး စိတ်ပျက်တာမျိုးခံစားရလား။

Do you sometimes look at yourself in the mirror and feel disappointed?

ငါမှန်ကြည့်တယ်ဆိုရင် I look in the mirror

ငါ့ကိုယ်ငါ မှန်ထဲပြန်ကြည့်တာ I look at myself in the mirror

Michael Jackson ရဲ့ သီချင်း Man in the mirror မှန်ထဲကလူ...တဲ့။

၁၂။ မင်းဘယ်လောက်ကြီး ဆွဲဆောင်မှုကောင်းကောင်း (မင်းထက်) ပိုကြည့်ကောင်းသူကတော့ အမြဲရှိနေမှာပဲ။

No matter how attractive you are, there will always be someone better-looking.

attractive= ဆွဲဆောင်သော၊ ရုပ်ချော ကြည့်ကောင်းသော

ဝါကျအစမှာ ဘာကြီးဘယ်လောက်ပင်ဖြစ်နေပါစေ...စသည်ဖြင့် No matter how သုံးပုံကိုမှတ်ပါ။

No matter how fast I ran, ......

ငါ ဘယ်လောက်ပဲမြန်အောင်ပြေးပြေး

No matter how hard I try, ......

ငါ ဘယ်လောက်အသည်းအသန် ကြိုးစားစေကာမူ...

၁၃။ အရေးကြီးတာက ကိုယ့်မှာရှိတာကို တန်ဖိုးထားဖို့ပါ။

The important thing is to appreciate what you have.

appreciate= ကျေးဇူးတင်၊ တန်ဖိုးထား၊ အသိအမှတ်ပြုသည်

၁၄။ အကောင်းမြင်သူများသည် အဆိုးမြင်သူများထက် အသက်ပိုရှည်သည်ဟု သုတေသနပြုချက်က ပြသသည်။

Research shows that optimistic people live longer than people who are pessimistic.

ဝါကျအစမှာ...Believe it or not, ယုံချင်မှယုံပေါ့... writing မှာရော speaking မှာပါ အသုံးဝင်ပုံကို မှတ်ပါ။

၁၈။ မင်းလိုချင်သောအရာဟာ မဖြစ်နိုင်ပါဘူးလို့ မင်းဘယ်တော့မှ မထင်သင့်ပါ။

You should never think that what you want is impossible.

(what you want= သင်လိုချင်သောအရာ)

What I want from you is love.

ငါ မင်းဆီက လိုချင်တာ အချစ်။

What I want from my friends is trust.

ငါ့သူငယ်ချင်းတွေဆီက ငါလိုချင်တာ ယုံကြည်မှု။

What he wants from you is your money.

သူ မင်းဆီက လိုချင်တာက မင်းရဲ့ပိုက်ဆံ။

၁၉။ သူ့ရဲ့စာအုပ်အသစ်ဟာ ရေးထားတာကောင်းရုံမဟုတ် အသိအမြင် ဗဟုသုတလည်းတော်တော်ပေးတယ်။

His new book is not only well-written, but also very informative.

(အထက်တန်းမှာ သင်ရတဲ့ not only...but also၊ လက်တွေ့မှာလည်း ကိုယ်ပိုင်သုံးနိုင်သင့်တယ်)

၂၀။ ငါတော့ သူ့စာအုပ်ကိုတော်တော်ကြိုက်ပြီး လူတိုင်းဖတ်သင့်တယ်လို့ အကြံပေးတယ် (ညွှန်းတယ်)။

I like his book a lot and recommend it to everyone.

to recommend something to someone ကို အတွဲလိုက်မှတ်ပါ။

My friend recommended this new restaurant to me.

သူငယ်ချင်းက ဒီစားသောက်ဆိုင်အသစ်မှာ စားကြည့်ဖို့ ငါ့ကိုညွှန်းတယ်။

၂၁။ ဒီကိစ္စဟာ ဖြေရှင်းရခက်လိမ့်မယ်။

It is going to be a tough issue to settle.

tough (adjective) ဟာ ခိုင်သော၊ မာသော၊ အကြမ်းခံနိုင်သော တို့အပြင် ခက်ခဲသောလို့လည်းအဓိပ္ပါယ်ရတယ်။

a tough issue to settle= ဖြေရှင်းရခက်မဲ့ ကိစ္စ

a difficult problem to solve= ဖြေရှင်းရခက်မဲ့ ပြဿနာ

၂၂။ နှစ်ဖက်စလုံးက ညှိနှိုင်းချင်ကြပုံမရဘူး။

Both parties seem unwilling to compromise.

နှစ်ဖက်စလုံးကို both sides လို့လည်းသုံးနိုင်ပါတယ်။

compromise= အပေးအယူလုပ်သည်၊ ညှိသည်

၂၃။ ကျောင်းသားများကို ဆရာများအတွက်သီးသန့်ထားတဲ့ အိမ်သာတွေမသုံးရဟု တားမြစ်ထားတယ်။

၂၄။ ကိစ္စတိုင်းမှာ (အကြောင်းအရာတိုင်းမှာ) နှစ်ဖက်ရှိပါတယ်။ နှစ်ဖက်စလုံးကို မြင်တတ်ဖို့ ကြိုးစားသင့်တယ်။ (သူ့ဖက် ကိုယ့်ဖက် အမြင်မတူနိုင်)

There are two sides to every story. We should try to see both sides of the story.

၂၅။ ကားမောင်းနေတုန်း ဖုန်းမပြောပါနဲ့။

Do not talk on your cell phone while driving.

၂၆။ သူဟာ တချိန်တည်းမှာ အလုပ်မျိုးစုံကိုတပြိုင်တည်း ကောင်းကောင်းလုပ်နိုင်တယ်လို့ မကြာခဏ ကြွားတတ်တယ်။

He often brags that he is good at multitasking.

multitask (verb) တချိန်တည်းမှာ အလုပ် ၂ ခု ၃ခု ပြိုင်လုပ်သည်။ (ဥပမာ၊ ဟင်းချက်ထားတုန်း computer မှာ ရုံးအလုပ်လုပ်နေတဲ့အပြင် Facebook မှာလည်း chatting လုပ်လိုက်သေး)

အဲဒီလိုလုပ်နိုင်သူကို multitasker လို့သုံးတယ်။

၂၇။ သောကြာညနေ ရုံးဆင်းချိန် (ယဉ်ကြောမှာ) ငါ အကြာကြီး ပိတ်မိနေတယ်။

I was stuck in Friday evening rush hour for ages.

အကြာကြီး for a long time; for quite some time တို့သုံးလို့ရပေမဲ့ for ages လို့ ပိုပိုသာသာလေးသုံးထားတယ်။

I've been waiting for you for ages!

မင်းကို ငါ အကြာကြီးစောင့်နေခဲ့ရတာ။

၂၈။ သူဟာ မွေးကတည်းက မျက်စိမမြင်တာ။

He has been blind since birth.

သူ့မွေးကတည်းက ကို since he was born လို့ရေးလည်းရတယ်။ since birth လို့ ကျစ်လစ်အောင်လည်းရေးတတ်သင့်တယ်။

၂၉။ လူတွေက တခါတလေ သူ့ကိုသနားကြတယ်။

People sometimes take pity on him.

to take pity on someone သုံးတာ အတွဲလိုက်မှတ်ပါ။

၃၀။ မျက်စိမမြင်နိုင်သူဟာ မျက်စိမြင်နိုင်တဲ့ သူငယ်ချင်း အမြဲလိုပါတယ်။

A blind person always needs a sighted friend.

မျက်စိမြင်ရတဲ့ သူငယ်ချင်းကို a friend who can see လို့ရေးနိုင်ကြမယ်ဆိုတာသိလို့ a sighted friend လို့ ထပ်သင်ပေးလိုက်တယ်။

sighted= having the ability to see; not blind
