Focusing Adverbs : Even & Only

‘Even’ and ‘only’ often go with the verb when they focus on words later in the sentence.

စာကြောင်းမှာ နောက်က စကားလုံးတွေကိုအထူးပြုဖော်ပြတဲ့အခါ ‘even’ နဲ့ ‘only’ ကို verb နဲ့အတူတွဲသုံးရပါတယ်။

He’s rude to everybody.

သူက လူတိုင်းအပေါ်မှာ ရိုင်းပြတယ်။

He’s even rude to me.

ငါ့အပေါ်မှာတောင် ရိုင်းတာ။

even က နောက်က to me ကို အထူးပြုတာပါ။

He even plays tennis in the rain.

သူက မိုးရွာထဲမှာတောင် တင်းနစ်ကစားတယ်။

even က နောက်က in the rain ကို အထူးပြုတာပါ။

He only liked the first part of the concert.

သူက ကပွဲရဲ့ပထမပိုင်းကိုပဲ သဘောကျတာ။

only က နောက်က the first part of the concert ကို အထူးပြုတာပါ။

They’ve only lived here for a few weeks.

သူတို့ ဒီမှာနေတာ ရက်သတ္တပတ်အနည်းငယ်ပဲ ရှိသေးတယ်။

only က နောက်က for a few weeks ကို အထူးပြုတာပါ။

‘Even’ and ‘only’ can go just before the words that they emphasize.

‘even’ နဲ့ ‘only’ ကို သူတို့အထူးပြုတဲ့စကားလုံးတွေရဲ့ရှေ့မှာ ကပ် ရေးပြီးတော့လည်း သုံးနိုင်တယ်။

He plays tennis even in the rain.

မိုးရွာထဲမှာတောင် တင်းနစ်ကစားတယ်။

He eats anything – even raw potatoes.

သူက ဘာမဆိုစားတယ်၊ အာလူးသီးအစိမ်းတောင် စားတယ်။

Only you could do a thing like that.

အဲ့လိုအရာမျိုးကို မင်းပဲ လုပ်နိုင်တယ်။

‘Even’ does not normally goes between the verb and the object.

ဒါပေမယ့် ‘even’ ကို verb နဲ့ object ကြားမှာ ထားပြီးသုံးလို့ မရပါဘူး။

He can even speak Chinese.

NOT >> He can speak even Chinese.
